This course develops knowledge of communication skills for one to one client consultations is anlevel course which will examine the theoretical background and rationale for the use of good communication skills and will enable participants to develop the skills needed to communicate effectively with their clients.
It was initially developed for healthcare workers but will be adapted to any situation where one to one communication needs to be effective and lead to mutual understanding. It will encourage participants to reflect on their current practice and apply their learning to their work environment.

The majority of courses will be assessed using work-based projects and possibly a theoretical piece of work. Assessment includes one 2000 word essay on the evidence base for communication skills and a structured reflective portfolio which includes a series of reflections observations and worksheets. The reflective portfolio also includes an assessment of the practical skills developed over the course.
