At this year's Oxford Farming Conference, Professor Leon Terry Director of Environment and AgriFood at Cranfield University urged the audience and policy makers to review their priorities in relation to research into crop production and post harvest losses.
He argued that UK research funding should be targetted at research on food waste generated in Africa and other emerging economies which contribute a far higher proportion of post harvest losses than UK and Europe where the majority of research takes place currently.
