What's our privacy policy?

This privacy policy sets out how the AgriFood Training Partnership (referred to hereafter as 'AFTP') uses and protects any information that you give us when you use this website. The University of Nottingham acts as the data controller for the AFTP. Any of the six university partners may at some point or other process your data as part of your course application and participant experience. 

We are committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected at all times. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using this website; you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement. AFTP may change this policy from with by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure that you are happy with any changes. This policy is effective from July 1 2017.

What we collect

The AFTP collects certain information from our users, particularly during the course application process, including:

  • Your name.

  • Contact information, including email address.

  • Personal information, including academic background and references.

  • Information about your computer/device type, operating system, length of visit, page views and browsing habits and about your visits and use of the website (including your IP address, geographical location and browser).

  • Other information relevant to visitor surveys or correspondence.

What we do with the information we gather

We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:

  • Internal record keeping.

  • Processing course applications with our delivery partners.

  • We may use the information to improve our products and services.

  • For improving your browsing experience.

  • To enable your use of the services available on the website.

  • Only where you have given us positive permission to do so:

    • We may periodically send you emails about information which we think you may find interesting, using the email address which you have provided. We send out a maximum of two email campaigns per month and you can choose to unsubscribe whenever you wish by clicking the unsubscribe link in the footer of any email you receive from us, or by contacting us directly. We use MailChimp as our marketing automation platform.

    • From time to time, we may also use your information to contact you for market research purposes. We may contact you by email or phone depending on the level of permission you have given us.

  • We will retain your applicant information for as long as is required by the University where you are registered at requires us to do this. In addition, if you or your employer has received state aid as part of a bursary scheme, we will hold your basic personal data for at least 10 years after the initial award to comply with legal requirements.

  • We will retain your name and email address for marketing purposes for as long as you remain a subscriber on the AFTP mailing list. You have the right to opt-out of this mailing list at any time by using the unsubscribe facility on the newsletter itself or sending us a contact form message indicating your preference.

Security

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online and all information is stored securely within the EU.

Disclosures

We may disclose information about you, any of our employees, suppliers or subcontractors as reasonably necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy policy. In addition, we may disclose your personal information:

  • To the extent we are required to by law;

  • In connection with any legal proceedings;

  • In order to establish, exercise or defend our legal rights.

Business Critical Cookies

These cookies allow the AFTP to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our website. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around our site. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. If you do not allow these cookies we will not know when a visitor has come to the site, and will not be able to monitor its performance and make improvements. We use the Google Analytics service for this purpose.

These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. AFTP Newsletter Prize Draw

  1. The prize draw (the "Prize Draw") is open to people aged 18 and over who provide their name and email address while signing up to the AFTP Newsletter Mailing List.
  2. Employees of the AgriFood Training Partnership (AFTP) or the partner universities (Aberystwyth, Bangor, Cranfield, Harper Adams, Nottingham, Reading) or anyone else connected with the Prize Draw may not enter the Prize Draw.
  3. Entrants into the Prize Draw shall be deemed to have accepted these Terms and Conditions.
  4. By submitting your personal information, you agree to receive emails from AFTP containing offers we think will interest you. You will be given the opportunity to unsubscribe on every email that we send. We normally send no more than two emails each month. 
  5. To enter the Prize Draw, you must complete the newsletter sign up form and submit your name and email address.  You must also select the 'Email' option  from the 'Marketing Permissions' section. No purchase is necessary.  If you have any questions about how to enter or in connection with the Prize Draw, please email us at info@aftp.co.uk with ‘Newsletter Prize Draw’ in the subject line.
  6. Only one entry per person. Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted and joint submissions are not allowed.
  7. The AFTP accepts no responsibility taken for entries that are lost, delayed, misdirected or incomplete, or cannot be delivered or entered for any technical or other reason. Proof of delivery of the entry is not proof of receipt by AFTP.
  8. The closing date of the Prize Draw is 23:59 on 30th June 2019.  Entries received outside this time period will not be considered.
  9. One winner will be chosen from a random draw of entries received in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. The draw will be performed by a random computer process. The draw will take place before the end of July 2019.
  10. The winner will be able to choose from one of the courses that are being run by the AFTP from September to December 2019 and will be eligible for half price fees for this course up to the value of a £500 discount. 
  11. AFTP accepts no responsibility for any costs associated with the prize and not specifically included in the prize (including, without limitation, travel to and from a course venue if applicable or related accommodation costs.).
  12. The winner will be notified by email on or before 30th July 2019 and must respond by email to claim their prize. If a winner does not respond to AFTP within 14 days of being notified by AFTP, then the winner's prize will be forfeited and AFTP shall be entitled to select another winner in accordance with the process described above (and that winner will have to respond to notification of their win within 14 days or else they will also forfeit their prize).  If a winner rejects their prize or the entry is invalid or in breach of these Terms and Conditions, the winner's prize will be forfeited and the AFTP shall be entitled to select another winner.
  13. The name and country of the winner can be obtained after 30th July 2019 by emailing info@aftp.co.uk.
  14. The prize is non-exchangeable, non-transferable, and is not redeemable for cash or other prizes.
  15. AFTP retains the right to substitute the prize with another prize of similar value in the event the original prize offered is not available.
  16. The winner may be required to take part in promotional activity related to the Prize Draw and the winner shall participate in such activity on AFTP’s reasonable request. The winner consents to the use by AFTP, after the closing date of the Prize Draw for an unlimited time, of the winner's voice, image, photograph and name for publicity purposes (in any medium, including still photographs and films, and on the internet, including any websites hosted by AFTP) and in advertising, marketing or promotional material without additional compensation or prior notice and, in entering the Prize Draw, all entrants consent to the same.
  17. The AFTP shall use and take care of any personal information you supply to it as described in its privacy policy, a copy of which can be seen above, and in accordance with data protection legislation.  By entering the Prize Draw, you agree to the collection, retention, usage and distribution of your personal information in order to process and contact you about your Prize Draw entry, and for the purposes outlined in paragraph 14 above.
  18. AFTP accepts no responsibility for any damage, loss, liabilities, injury or disappointment incurred or suffered by you as a result of entering the Prize Draw or accepting the prize. AFTP further disclaims liability for any injury or damage to your or any other person's computer relating to or resulting from participation in or downloading any materials in connection with the Prize Draw. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall exclude the liability of AFTP for death, personal injury, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation as a result of its negligence.
  19. AFTP reserves the right at any time and from time to time to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, this Prize Draw with or without prior notice due to reasons outside its control (including, without limitation, in the case of anticipated, suspected or actual fraud). The decision of AFTP in all matters under its control is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
  20. The Prize Draw will be governed by English law and entrants to the Prize Draw submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
